If you hold your mouse over a favorite author icon, it will indicate the author is already a favorite. We will look into adding a different icon to indicate this as well.

Item's should show the same text on Mouse over, but I see since we update item headers a little while, that got lost. I will get that mouseover text back in there asap.

So in the mean time, until the icons are changed, you can mouse over a favorite icon and see if they are a favorite without clicking.
