Noticing Newbies

Welcome, Hiedi!! I'm sorry that you lost your job earlier. These times are so tough on everyone. Congrats on using your time to write, though. By the way, most of us here don't have writing backgrounds, other than the love and need to write. Though I'm seriously considering of going back and getting a creative writing degree. Funny, huh?

One idea on what your friends say, what your family says, etc. You know, sometimes they're right. I fell in that "trap" of, "Well, of course my mom has to say she likes it. She's my mom." Or "Of course my husband likes it, it was his story idea in the first place."

In coming to WDC and getting the courage to share my writing, I have learned that maybe my mom and husband weren't saying it just to be nice. lol I remember submitting my first short story. I agonized over submitting it for quite awhile. In the end, I closed by eyes and hit the "Save Item" button. lol I get wonderful constructive criticism here at WDC and it's only making my writing better. Well, that was after I overcame my defensiveness to it and learned to accept it in a constructive manner.

So, when you're ready, take a deep breath and submit some of your writing. I'll be sure to 'favorite' your user name and sneak in to your port. I'll be more than happy to help you by reviewing your work.
