A warm welcome to our newbies; come meet new and not-so-new members of Writing.Com! |
Ruwth, I understand 100% where you're coming from. I was that way when I first started giving reviews. I'm actually still that way. Hitting that "make review public" button is still really hard for me. I feel bad letting "everyone" know what I thought of a person's piece. I also give in-depth reviews. I go through them line-by-line and pretty much edit them. lol So then I feel really bad hitting that "public" option. Also, since I do give reviews like that, I "cheat". I don't want to judge based on what I thought of a piece. I might review a piece I might not necessarily have liked. However, my review can be given to anyone, except poets. lol So, I decided that a piece automatically starts off with 5 stars when I go into it. I start deducting 1/2 a star based on a number of errors or how drastic they were. In a way, that's sort of how I was graded when I trained to be a medical transcriptionist. It works. ![]() I believe, as you review more, you'll get the hang of it and get more brave. I know I have! Since I do in-depth reviews, and I belong to the Angel Army, I joined their in-depth review forum. "Angel In-Depth Reviews" ![]() I don't know if that helped you at all. I just thought that I'd let you know how I handle it. I also get some great reviews that just point out areas of my pieces that aren't flowing right. I enjoy getting those too. I think it takes all of our different styles of reviewing to make it work. By the way, I loved the review you gave my piece. It helped me out a lot! As a side note, I'm going to review your pieces later today. ![]() Take care!
