In my opinion, and in my long experience there are good writers and not so good writers. And every now and again a not so good writer will pen a very good story and a good writer will equalize the balance by scribbling a stinker.
Now I know Peter Straub's style can be a little off putting as he does like his purple prose - it took me over a month to read Ghost Story - but I loved it. I also enjoyed Full Circle (which was a much easier read) and Lost Boy Lost Girl as well as The Talisman and Black House (with Stephen King).
So I was just wondering why you've grown to loathe him?
