Right False Memory - written as Koontz but going through his Thriller stage, Haven't read much past his eighties work as I was becoming a little upset that his books were branching away from horror. The ones mentioned in my first reply are late 70's to 80's and I recommend them all - they may be plot driven but in the later 80's ones his characters get more of the stage, also. As for "House of Thunder" this was written originally as Leigh Nicholls - and unfortunately Leigh never did as well as Dean - because like Bachman / King their IS a difference - Nicholl's, again was more Thriller and I couldn't get on with them either. Something about them doesn't work. As for reading a novel I felt was bad, would I then continue reading that author - If I thought there was talent there, yes. I didn't really like Interview With A Vampire but The Vampire Lestat is great. Though not my favourite of the series. Check out my previous post. So I say try giving Koontz another try - but try the ones I've mentioned - I think they're his better work - especially Strangers. Come join me - We ALL float down here. Pennywise. |
