I feel the same way. Stephen Kings novels are just not what they used to be, but that's understandable. I'm sure after so many years of so many books and pressure to come out with a new one each year, it's probably a struggle to get a new book out, and in turn probably a bit of a burn out. I do miss classic King though. I'm actually reading the Dark Half right now and I must say, wow what a good book. I love it, it's creepy, cool, funny, and pure King. His recent work just isn't the same. The most recent I've read of his is Cell. Here's what I thought. It was a good book, with a frightening concept that did make me take a second look at my phone, it's histarically satirical, and there is one scene in the book involving a main character that I must admit was completely unexpected and it shocked the hell out of me. In fact, I took the book and threw it at the floor, and anybody who's read it probably knows what scene I'm talking about. But, in the end, it just didn't feel the same. I didn't have that sensation like something was creeping up my back, and I didn't feel a bit nervous to put the book down and then turn off the light. Oh well, I still enjoy his work and I'm a committed reader, so I'll continue with KIng no matter how bad it gets. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
