Noticing Newbies

Hello all.

Just a little ice-breaker, as recommended by our host.

I presently work as a full time H & S consultant, with a modest flair for the English language - both good and bad usage of!
Retirement ambition is to take the next 10 years to become a slightly better writer than I may be at present, and have made a happy start with a small piece of nonsense kiddy poetry I wrote for my grandchildren some 4 years ago.
Will still need a writing course but in the meantime propose to rely on your collective expertise to encourage me onward. I have interest in non-fiction primarily but - will check out all open doors.
Some of the writing I have read in my brief site visit this evening is quite an inspiration for me to "get in there" and write.
