There you go M R K, ain't it good to get it off your chest. I know what you mean about The Ring though - Hardly any gore just loads of creepy atmosphere I bet you watchg ed the American Re-make though, which did a good job of encompassing the Japanese films - though I preferred the Japanese versions - the same goes for The Grudge (though I have to admit that the American remake has a scarier soundtrack - when the dead kis is running around the place, this creeped the wife out as he ran behind the sofa a few times ). Loved the American Ring Two which was an entirely contained separate story - just based on the mythos. Here's another one I forgot about - I think it was a French film (couldn't be too sure - it was in English, but so long ago I don't recall if it was dubbed.) - I think it was called The Telephone Box. A man enters a Telephone Box and finds the phone isn't working. Trying the door to get out he finds it locked. Nobody helps him to get out and in time a openbacked lorry turns up and hoists him and the box onto the back. The then set off on a drive through the city, through neon lit tunnels, into the country side. Even though he is visibly in distress no one helps. Then they start to come across other vans with similar cargo's - the image that stayed in my mind is that of a white-purple-blue person, that in desperation hung himself with the telephone cord. It was one weird film - I loved it and hated telephone boxes since - is this how phobias start? Come join me - We all float down here. Pennywise. |
