Pan's Labyrinth, set in post-Civil War Spain, tells the story of a girl named Ophelia who is given three tasks by a mysterious faun. Meanwhile, her stepfather, the fascist Captain Vidal, viciously hunts for rebels in the region, and her pregnant mother grows ill.


If you dislike subtitles, then do not pick up this film. I did not find them to be a problem. It is not an overly wordy film and at least in my copy, they is easy to read. Mine is letter boxed and the letter were large and white.


But if you like dark fairy tales or dark fantasy that are well acted, astonishing setting and effects.
