Judges are people and like people everywhere, they come to the works submitted with certain preconceived notions of what makes good fiction. Obviously, your concept of fiction and the judge's concept are diametrically opposed. There is no right and wrong here, there are just two different viewpoints approaching the same idea from different directions.
