Ok - I've added a "WDC Lite" option to the "My Preferences" page (linked from the "My Account" page).


"Writing.Com provides both a Standard and Lite version of the site. The Lite version may speed up site surfing for members with slower dial up connections and/or older computer setups. To reduce the size of each page, the Lite version will remove some of the standard and duplicated navigation features. This may be a fair trade off for members who need to keep pages smaller in order to have them load faster on dialup and/or older computer setups. Writing.Com does recommend use of the Standard version whenever possible."


At the same time, you (and/or the person on dialup) also might want to try setting the "Rollover Preference" to "Disabled". This reduces the size of the pages being loaded as well.


So you and the other user should give that a try!
