Hmm... Well, ok. If clearing the cache did seem to help for a bit, but not long, that would tend to indicate there's "something" going on the computer... If it was completely Writing.Com being the problem, clearing the cache really shouldn't have any effect even for a short period. Namely if the system performs better when you clear the cache but gets quickly "clogged" again, something seems to be up.

Depending on the sites you compare to, Writing.Com is a bigger site with a lot of navigation because of the many places to go.

Unfortunately I don't have a Mac available to do any testing with. We will consider adding members a "lite" preference that would allow those with slowness to remove a good deal of the navigation to make pages smaller.

Also, since you're using Safari, you may want to give FireFox a try on Writing.Com and see how it performs. While Safari is not available on non-Mac systems, we have done a lot of testing with Firefox and it seems to work very nicely.
