This has been asked for before and it is not saving clicks to do what you suggested. In any case, I did not ask for it before to save clicks.

With all the whining from members seeing their stats showing views without ratings, and no way for them to know that the member who viewed it just realized he'd reviewed or rated it before, the member grumbles or gets feelings hurt.

When you are looking for something you have not read before, landing in items previously read can be irritating at times for those who do want to really save clicks.
