If I did that, which at this point I don't do it consciously, I would look for what catches my interest and how it grabs and holds it. I think you could have the best work in the world when it comes down to it, but if you don't capture the reader right off, then the end merit of your world doesn't matter in the least. Does that make sense? I just got home and it's 1:30 am and I'm not sure I'm still coherent.
