The mind is certainly an odd thing. I don't write outlines or character sketches, because like Jessiebelle, I see my stories in scenes. My imagination takes that even further with characters. As well as the scenes, I see my characters' faces in my mind's eye, and I know their history almost instantaneously; therefore, I never have an issue of forgetting important characteristics.
Drawing those faces is more of a challenge. I'm never satisfied with pencil sketches I have of characters, especially when colored. No colored pencil, crayon, marker, pastel etc. has the right shade of red for a red-haired character or the right tone of skin for another character. That's what frustrates me the most. Instead of spending hours and hours mixing and remixing colors to get it just right, I think it's easier and more effective to let others see the picture with my words.
Art is life. Without Art where is the beauty of Life? Without Life where is the beauty of Art?
