I'll go to friends first. Just to see how they think of it. Though, personally, I'd prefer finding someone who doesn't know me well enough to read my work. They're less likely to go easy on you because well, bluntly put, they probably could care less about your feelings.

Though, my dad's always pushed me hard. I think that's because he wants me to become a published writer, since it's the only thing I've ever wanted to do since I was five. (Unless you count being a police officer, but messed up my knee when I was nine and blew that)
