No you shouldn't give up! What kind of silly question is that?
First, you get a computer you can work on back up and running, which you seem to have done since you're posting here. Then, you reconstruct what you can, either from files stored elsewhere or from memory. After that, you move forward. You tell yourself if you can't remember the data, it must not have been that important anyway. You rebuild around the parts you could salvage. You tell yourself that it will be better than it was before, because you're more experienced now then when you started out.
Mostly importantly, you learn your lesson and you do periodic backups on all your data and WIPs. Start now. Do it again as soon as you've salvaged what you can. Set up a schedule and follow it religiously.
Also, find a way to store at least one copy of the backup offsite. That way, if a tornado or fire takes out your house and computer, you still can recover easier than before.
