Yes, I have advice. Read well written books. And then read some more well written books. And then keep reading after that. And all the while you should be writing, then looking back at what you wrote to see what you do or don't like. And then read some more.

The "nuts and bolts of storytelling" is a bit odd, and I'm sure one could write volumes on the subject. You probably shouldn't start a lot, if any at all, of your sentances with conjunctions, like I did above. Did you have anything specific in mind? Any specific questions or problems?
