Re: names
I've started a few projects in which certain characters undergo name changes at midbook. Sometimes I find that I just gave a character the wrong name at the beginning of the story and a John becomes Leland, or a Jennifer becomes Beth. This happens a lot when I try my hand at high fantasy. Choosing names used to give me minor headaches until I decided it's not especially important what name I start with in the first draft.
