Trine bit her lip and wrapped her arms tightly around herself, holding back the shivers that threatened to overtake her. She knew more than she did before thanks to Syn but she wondered if she dared to delve deeply into his troubled soul.
"I find that you are a puzzle and as much as I want to unravel your secrets I can't bear to cause you more pain." she said softly.
Crysth started. "Please, Trine," he murmured.
Sighing, Trine met his eyes and whispered, "What do you want of me?"
He smiled, "You honestly do not wish to cause me pain. Very well. I want your friendship, I believe. I have never had a loyal person at my side, one I could trust. Will you be that for me, Trine?"
She felt cold and hot all at once and she slowly nodded her head. "Yes, I will."
Peace descended upon both of them, if only slightly, as they shared a long look before going their separate ways.
