When I first started writing, many, many moons ago, I used to believe that every chapter had to be perfect before you moved on. I've since learned the rule "fix it in rewrites" and that no matter if you know where the story is going, whether you write with an outline or organically, you're going to end up with paradoxes that have to be fixed in the second or third draft.
