Being on anti-depressants has nothing to do with cutting. It will help for your depression, yes, but not for self-injury. It may help, but it could still be a struggle, despite the meds. Thing is, not everyone who is a self-injurer suffers from depression. They may not suffer from anything, maybe besides low self-esteem or such that arised from something horrible that had happened to them. Some suffer with eating disorders, some suffer from borderline personality disorder, and so on. It is a thing of it's own, but can be seen along with other illnesses and such. If you do feel you need to talk about depression things, Jem would be better at that, she's quite good with advice, though, I wouldn't talk about cutting in her forum - reason being - and no offence to her whatsoever, but she tends to reply with things like "just stop it" because she, as many others who do not injure, know very little about it, and think it is a matter of just not doing it and it's over. I understand you may feel at a loss, but it not over. It's a hard thing to overcome, an addiction. You won't be able to just stop in a week, it'll take time. How much do you cut, usually? Keep an eye on that as you go on, because any improvement from there is good. Also, why do you cut, what brings it about? I mean, how do you feel before it happenes? (as not everyone had the same reasons for it) -Kelly |
