I am currently working on a novel that has two female protoganists, one who is a normal teenage girl from suburbia and another who is a teen idol living in Hollywood. I've written the first couple chapters in third person limited switching from one protoganist's viewpoint to the other each chapter, but I feel that my writing is falling flat in third person. I have done several writing prompts for each character in third person and feel that I can develop each of their voices better when writing from first person. I would love to write my novel from first person, but I do not feel my story would be complete without the switching viewpoints between the two very different protoganists. This is where my question comes in: would it be possible for me to write a story from the first person viewpoint of two different characters switching each chapter? Has this been done and how can it be done smoothly? Any help is greatly appreciated. Let me know if examples/further information is needed.
