Chupa los mangos means to "suck the mangos" - or more to the point, to suck the juice from a ripe mango. So chupa means suck, according to our Ecuadoran friend. Evidently in November, there is a special mango native to Ecuador that ripens, and street venders sell them by walking the streets saying "Chupa, chupa, chupa los magos!" - and people buy them, squish them, and then suck the juice out of them. Very delicious - and very poetic. Would make a lovely prose poem .
And high five to you for your wonderful prose poem! Not all of us judges hate 'em, ya know.
