It must be a wonderful feeling to be so sure of one's work. Speaking for myself, I don't have that edge. During the previous SLAMs, I was pleasantly surprised, even shocked, when the judges chose my work.
As a new judge in a SLAM, I learned one thing. There will be no negative decision on any one piece unless all judges agree to it. The poems are judged for their own merit, not for who wrote them.
As to the gay bashing question, the judges have no way of knowing anyone's true gender, let alone their life orientation and preferences. All we depend on in cyberspace is how WC members present themselves to us through their work and their handles.
There has never been and never will be a prejudiced stand against any one group or person in WC SLAMs. I can guarantee it, because otherwise, I wouldn't be a part of any one SLAM.
