Homer's "The Odyssey" recounts the tale of Odysseus, a hero on his journey home from the Trojan War. He met such encounters as the Cyclops, the Sirens, Calypso the nymph who kept him as her lover on her island. He finally returned home after ten years. "Personal Odyssey" I am on a journey Sailing ever onward, I set my eyes on Ithaca, my one true happiness, where love and life await me. I thought it would be easy, but the winds aren't in my favor. Water takes you home, but not for me. Time and time again I am tested and diverted. Tempted by sweet Sirens' song, voices of peer pressure from the shore and Lotus-land, where I denied myself the mind effects of drugs. I was trapped against my will by the love of a nymph, for years I am kept from my one true goal. Will I ever make it, or are my dreams lost at sea? A higher power controls my fate, making me a pawn in this struggle to reach my Ithaca, my contentment.
