Spring 2006 SLAM! - Congrats to the winners - see you all next time! |
In Greek Mythology, the Sirens were said to be irresistible charmers who lured sailors to their death with beautiful songs and melodies. I also include a reference to Clotho, one of the Moirae, or the Fates. Clotho was the spinner of the thread of human life. "Invalid Item" by A Guest Visitor Curious melodies drift across lush, emerald fairways. All my will to keep my eyes on the road. Hands lashed to the wheel, seat belt secure; I will not succumb. Crisp, morning air kisses sparkling dew, and for each club I pass, they sing sexier, louder. Still, I am bound for work, tied to an inside day; no time for vixen's games. Always there, dancing and frolicking on the green, Sweetly singing their sensual symphony, tempting me to come play; my resolve is weak; my will is bending. Army of sirens following me, more joining the miles. Strength in numbers begins to overwhelm, and they catch me at the light, lifting the car, floating with it, and me helpless. "Relax," they sing, "the Moirae's Clotho stitched it just so, temptation is yours, and so it shall be." They set me down at Lost Pines CC, a chorus of tiny voices, opening my car door, and lacing up my golf shoes.
