Spring 2006 SLAM! - Congrats to the winners - see you all next time! |
My Tree Lightning once struck my tree And sundered for me a cradle To hide from the oblivion of days long past Tears carved their marks within my tree As the torment of each day Severed sanity from inside out Pain left pitted tracks in the bark As my scars that don’t show Forced frustration onto my shoulders Grief tore its way through the branches When unanswered wishes only brought Old sorrow with new bruises Misery engraved its name among the leaves When screams went unheard Or worse, ignored The roots buried my memory As all hands struck with vicious efficiency Compelling me to forget Walking away from my tree after Lightning stuck again And vaporized what was left up there I shed a single tear watching The tree that held me, burn to ashes With what was left of my childhood evlclown ![]() |
