SLAM!

A hide away

I heard the doorbell, and ran away
By backdoor, to the terrace on top
To avoid the guests who comment
for no reason and make me feel bad

Not that I don’t like people, but them
who compare and judge as pass-time.
Parents never liked me doing that so
they lectured me, my side not known

I enjoyed being alone, with my book
to write or read, until see them gone.
slowly descend to find mom furious
for not helping her to entertain them

The practice went on, for few years,
until my brother found the hide-out.
No more escape, no more sanctuary;
just the growing up pains & plans.

Forced to be social, put on the show,
Faked smile, false emotion, sure act
Trying to find the perfect hide away,
to get away from the spurious fact.
