"Hiding" ![]() When I was a child and I felt That I needed to hide myself From all of life's trials, Somewhere in my room My key to a new World lie waiting for me. Elegant pages of white, Exploding with proud black letters, Spilled over into the Edges of my imagination. Night and day I would lock myself Far away in the worlds that These books invited me into. Opening a skit with Jo March, Hoping Nelly would get hers Side by side with Laura Ingles. Sharing in all of their ups and Downs. Finding, in the end, that These friendships would become Etched into memories that, Today, still beg me to come, Enticing me to hide myself anew. This poem is written in the Linking Form discovered by Vivian Gilbert Zabel. |
