A Paradisical Punishment Much to my parent's dismay I often tried to bend the rules Many times I got away With making them both look like fools But, eventually, I got caught I ran off at night without permission They shouldn't have been so fraught After all, I only lied by omission My punishment was to stay in my room Fortunately, all my books were there I didn't complain, just picked up a tome And for hours I'd be out of their hair The silence oftened puzzled the two They'd ask me about it at dinner I laughed because they never knew I was rewarded for being a sinner I'd fly on the back of a dragon king With the world laid out before me Or listen to a princess sing And fall in love quite shortly Sometimes I'd go to outer space Ray Bradbury showed me the way Ganymede was my favorite place And there I would save the day I loved to go explore the deep With Captain Nemo and his friends But finally I'd fall asleep My adventures coming to an end On the next morning I told my dad That wroning him, I felt much shame But although I acted sad I couldn't wait to get grounded again ________________________________ This was written in a simple ABABCDCD format, with the rhymes changing for every stanza.
