It started out-
Like any other day,
Like any day before it
And presumably any after.
But there was something different.
And today- everything was not the same.
A small rumble began from deep within the earth-
And people began to run and scream- fear all around them.
Families huddled close together- afraid they may not make it out.
It came
So quickly
That many
Could not
Respond.
Kids,
Pets,
All family members
Became separated.
Crying, tears, hope lost-
A great rumble again
Followed by silence
And then city was gone.
And the families were gone.
And the world was nearly oblivious.
In that day, the people somehow became
Molded into the volcano that engulfed their lives-
Became buried by a monster with no face- and no name.
And Pompeii was lost to the ages- unable to recover from such grief.
And it is only
From destruction,
From pain and grief,
That we can learn
To not take
Life
For granted.
From
Despair
And
Destruction
New
Life
Stems.
