How many periods did/does your high school have?

How many periods were/are there? At mine, six, with a seventh optional. I'm curious as to whether or not this is the norm, because I'd really, really like to set a story with seven class periods (one for each Deadly Sin). But if that's just impossible, I'd do one at lunch.
