I need to say that I like your idea and even second it. As I'm writing more now than I did before, I like to know how many words my stories have to know if they are in agreement to the contest (if I do for a contest) rules. While judging it would be even easier to know if they followed the rules.
Any way, remember that we must write our works in a word processor first before adding them to WDC. Most word procesors programs include the Word Count tool that is what I use to post in WDC with my stories. WDC provides that tool as well once you save your story. You can do a double check of your word count before adding the word count at the bottom of the page.
