14 isn't too young to get get married if you go way back in time there. Your work would fit the bill. 13 I think was the youngest in the past there, but most of the time guys would be older, sometimes double that age.

As for the attempt on a characters life, you just need to read the newspaper for inspiration. Okay, maybe it's not that easy, but I like to kill of my characters with either their greatest fear, them protecting someone from something, or the flaw in their traits coming after them, eg. A swordmaster may have a handful of trouble if he gets blasted to bits by a wizard. That's like all-time bland, but my thoughts at random. *Smile* Maybe find your characters' greatest weakness, then transform it into something they least expect and take them down with it.
