Marv is calling it quits! |
... like a damned chimney this weekend. Nizar, the proprietor guy at Terry's Corner Store used to sell us a carton of smokes every four to five days or so. Then we quit for a week and we didn't buy any smokes at all. Now, we've started again, but we're in denial about it, because even though we're smoking nearly as much as we used to, we still haven't gone back to buying cartons instead of single packs. Our kids walk past us tight-lipped, wanting to say something, but knowing that we're the adults around the house, and we'll do what we want to, even if it's smoking. We don't really want to talk about it, and they know it, so they don't bring it up, but I know they're thinking about it. Well, we are too, but this quitting smoking thing is one stressful bitch. We didn't go about quitting the right way, either. Cold turkey, as it turns out, is best served on a slice of rye with mayo. I think the "cutting down" approach is far less stressful and takes the pressure off more than I care to admit. It's too easy to just say, "I'm cutting down alot." <puff puff> God, how I don't want to have to do the whole "patch" thing. But we really are smoking less than we used to. Smoking is off limits in the garage now, too, so we have to get up and go outside if we want to light up. And we do want to light up. And then we don't want to. But we do. And we hate it. I wish I'd never seen a cigarette. Man, how I love them. Zoo - Salted and Roasted ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
