You'll find Wc is a great place to write and read with loads of helpful and friendly people.

When you write your story and place it in your portfolio it will be given a number, something like 1108765. Copy that number and come to the contest and post a message like you just did. While you are composing that message do the following:

Type

Invalid Item  This item number is not valid. # by Not Available.

where ######## is the number that was assigned to your story. Pay attention to the {. On my keyboard it is located as the upper case on the [,] keys. Don't put any spaces inside, just what I showed you above.

There are some very good tutorials out there on using Writingml and posting to contests. I'll hunt them up and send them to you.
