I know this isn't a book review forum, but I'm sure someone here can relate to this:
I am almost done with this book, Truth and Beauty, by Ann Patchett. I will never be able to write like that. I know that isn't the point, that i need to write like me, but still.
I've had this happen before, read something that so amazed me by the sheer elegance that I've felt humbled to the point of, well uncomfortable puts it mildly.
I guess there is some good in that. but, wow, the agent who wrote me this really nice rejection letter said the memoir market is a hard one - now I can see why.
Oh well. I did win second prize here for a story contest :) And it did help me feel motivated.
