My opinion:

First off, I don't think it matters how original the idea is, because you, the writer, will bring your own unique style to it and make it your own. I will caution you, however, that this could be a difficult quest. To write a satirical comedy about the school system could be a lot of work. For instance, in this kind of story, it's easy to "write to impress" instead of write what you feel. If a writer only writes to impress others, then the writing comes out dull and uninteresting, which is the opposite effect you want to have. If you truly feel the atmosphere of the school and the students within it, then I say go for it! But above all. Keep it real! That's my two cents. I say if the idea for the story keeps you up at night with new and exciting characters, and plots and dialogue...then write it!
