That surprises me about the mystery, Rose. I would've thought that genre would be more research heavy. I guess it does depends on the story. Or in this case, the mystery.

I wrote a short fantasy mystery that is currently looking for a home and even had to do research before I could finish it.

My two novel WIP's are a space opera and an urban fantasy respectively. The space opera has proven very research intense -- my right hand is going to be blue for a few days from research I was doing last night -- and 5 1/2 chapters into the fantasy, I already have placeholders marking research I need to complete.
