Write songs much?Feel free to discuss it here(plus R&R as always). |
To me, writing of any sort is an art I work hard at, but I enjoy songwriting especially because it's writing meant for the ear rather than the eye. Writing songs is what I do most nowadays because I've developed my singing voice as well as started learning the guitar and decided to become a singer... and songwriter... and guitarist. Writing always comes to me easilly, as well as the music, which is not odd for they are closely related. People say I have a natural thing for music. All I know is that it's easy for me and I enjoy doing it. It touches the soul in a way I never thought possible. It's so many wonderful things blended into one. No matter how individual, all the different types of art connect. You named two different ways to write songs: writing the music first and then the lyrics, or vice versa. As for me, I can easilly write both the lyrics and the music at the exact same time, and I prefer this method because it saves me more time. But there are more unique ways of writing songs. One is skat, which I sometimes do when I'm just having some fun. Another way is by coming up with an idea for a song, brainstorming for thoughts and ideas to put into the song and writing them down, organizing them, and finally piecing it all together. Or there's thinking of the idea, writing down whatever comes to mind, and then editing it. There are probably many more ways as well. I alternate different techniques so I can figure out what works best for me. Hey, I'm young and I'm still learning! |
