Re: IM messages character indication
Greets,

I was thinking that I sometimes type a message in an IM field to someone, and the system tells me my message is too long. Perhaps an idea is to show the number of characters you can use and the number you have used, as well as the number of characters that can be used...

Hmmm... That is in place already... When I submit a test IM that is too long, the system sends back the following error:

Error: IM size limit is 1,000 characters; Your try is 2,416 chars.

The limit is 1,000 characters... I don't want to add anything more to the IM window to keep it a small and light part of the site.

As for splitting the IM's automatically, I wouldn't want to let the system make assumptions what words and places it was allowed to break an IM up. It's much better to give the warning and allow a human to make the correct decisions in this case. *Smile* It's definitely helpful with mobile phones where messages are limited to much smaller amounts of characters (around 80 per message on most?)
