Let your knowledge spill forth like a fountain or partake in the wisdom of those who do. |
Thank you to Mari ~ for the stunning red ribbon and all of her wonderful support of this forum! Everyone has knowledge of something. This is convenient because as writers, we will all reach a point where we need information that we don't already have. This is the place to for an exchange of those ideas. If you have a question, ask. If you know the answer, offer your advice. If what you seek is opinion, strike up a dialogue and let the conversation flow.
Questions If you're not sure what kind of questions you can ask here, my answer is anything you need to know in the course of writing, soliciting, or publishing your story. I may not have your answer, but with any luck someone else out there will. Just a few examples: Fact Research: What type of side arms were issued to Russian soldiers in WW II? Publishing Questions: How do I find an agent, or do I even need one? Character Development: If you discovered that your best friend/spouse/loved one had a fatal disease, how would you cope? There may be more than one answer to a question, so open dialogue is encouraged! Answers If you have a base of knowledge that you'd like to share, but don't see any related questions, let us know anyway! Just because someone's not asking today, doesn't mean that they won't tomorrow. Post and let us know what you know, and if you'd rather people ask you in here, or if they can e-mail you with questions. Fine Print The forum rating is set to 18+ right now, because I don't want to restrict the type of information exchanged. If I need to raise it, I will. In the course of research, one should not limit themselves to an age rating if the content they seek steps outside of those boundaries. There is an exception to this. I reserve the right to pull or restrict any conversation that delves into the details of conducting illegal activities - bank robbery, bomb making, hacking, etc. If you're describing how to do it and/or get away with it, you're walking that line. While I agree that these are all things that a writer needs to know to construct a believable tale, this is also a public forum that anyone can stumble on and I don't want to cause liability issues for the site owners or any of the members here. This decision will be made on a case-by-case basis. Let the Q&A begin! Other Research Forums:
