That is such a good question.
I used to wonder if there was a way to get myself to write more.
Your description of a house in the forest with nature right outside is pretty much what I also think is the best scenario for writing.
Since it's hard to live in a free standing house in the forest for a long time, I think the next best thing is to have a place at home that is quiet and has a nice view out of a window.
I am almost there. I have my writing station set up in the bedroom with a desk and a printer attached to the computer. It's somewhat quiet as I am not getting disturbed too often. My golden cat enjoys taking naps near me while I type. From my window, there are the neighbor houses, but in between the house, I can see the tip of the local mountain which has been recently covered in dramatic snow. And the neighbors have a lot of trees on their lot, which gives me something pleasant to look at year-round.
