The Elevator Pitch is an exciting new short-format contest that rewards writers for their ideas rather than their writing. As writers, we often have more ideas for stories than we have time to write them. This contest is an avenue to tell those stories without having to actually write them out.

Contestants will be prompted a random character, a random event, and a random object. They must submit a pitch for a story that involves those three things. Best pitch wins the contest.

Example prompt:

Character - balloon artist
Event - apocalypse
Object - canned food

Example contest entry:

The Day After Never is a post-apocalyptic romantic-comedy.

Love Finds a Way . . . Even at the End of the World!

Bob was a bike messenger that also had a strange affinity for making balloon animals. Sheila was an overworked corporate attorney who was ruthless and cunning. They find themselves trapped together in a fallout shelter. Forced to confront their differences and their growing attraction to each other, they must navigate the challenges of post-apocalyptic romance, including awkward dinner dates with canned food, competing with other survivors for limited resources, and dealing with the constant threat of mutant creatures. Will love blossom in the ruins of civilization, or will they discover that the real apocalypse was falling for each other?

Join Bob and Sheila on a hilarious and heartwarming journey as they discover that even in the darkest of times, love can conquer all! Unless it's zombies. Then that's just called necrophilia.
