Fiction - Mystery
Nonfiction - Science, History, Travel, Finance, Animals

In regards to Non Fiction I prefer the kinder side of life. Nothing gruesome or scary.

The more vicious the story, then the more I lean towards fiction. Even for fiction, I will stay away from scary stories.

I like Science and History in the Non Fiction because they tell (as opposed to show) the stories. I enjoy hearing their opinions as well. Does not need to be factual.

I prefer my sci fi and fantasy to be full of raw emotion. With the other genres I notice that I prefer a more a more neutral, more cerebral approach. I like hearing about the characters or real people thoughts and ideas.

Perhaps that's what makes cross genres with sci fi so appealing: the emotional impact of sci fi splattered with the cleaner, clearer processed information from other genres.
