A few days ago I polled the readers about how to continue "Corporate Strategies" . Should Will start the next phase of his scheme by recruiting some partners, or by making some more doppelgangers? By a hefty margin, readers voted for the doppelgangers. I'm not going to do another technical poll, but I am going to poll readers for ideas. I've got my own intuitions for what Will should do, but I want to hear from you: Who should Will duplicate and replace? Now, to be clear, I am not asking who you would like to see replaced, though of course that will enter into your suggestions somewhat. I'm asking you to strategize, to think like Will, by putting yourself in his place and executing his scheme. If you were out to replace key Westside people with duplicates, so that you could run the school from the shadows, who would you target? One caution: You also have to keep in mind that Will is not as well-versed in the school and its doings as you, the reader, are. There are a lot people who you might think to replace, but who Will doesn't know, and maybe doesn't even know they exist. This means that characters who exist below his horizon -- underclassmen, and lots of people in the senior class as well -- shouldn't be immediate candidates. But you can reach such candidates if you trace out a plausible path to them, by having Will replace people who do know about those candidates, and who can then inform Will of them. I guess the best way to put it is this: Put yourself in Will's place, give yourself his goals, and war game out, person by person, who you'd replace. Will already has Chelsea Cooper and Kim Walsh (in this branch) duplicated and replaced, so those are given. If you want to play this game, give me the next four. (And if you're shy about posting your ideas here, you can email them to me privately.) |
