Part Four Results"
This Round:
All Hands on Deck
A ship needs a good crew working in smooth shifts. This round asks you to do multiple levels of work—writing and reviewing—in four parts.
There are prizes for each part.
For Parts One, Two, and Three, there's no need to do any other parts. Come in, check out the Part in progress, and take on the challenge if you want.
Part Four, though, requires that you have done Part Two. (This will all make better sense once you read about the Parts. Information on each Part's prizes comes after.)
If you have any questions on any Part or part of this
, please post them in the forum below.
---- Guidelines and Information ----
Part One (Jan 25 through Jan 31)
Click here for Part One particulars. ▼
Post a story idea directly into a forum post. It can be of any genre and insinuate any rating, but be mindful of this forum's content rating (13+) when you word it.
Story ideas should be from about three to nine lines long, but this is not a rule. It should be a general thought or concept for what might make a good plot. It should be significantly more than a prompt, but significantly less than an outline. Think, "Elevator pitch."
(Something like, "A girl who can walk through walls" is a character idea, not a story idea. Why she walks through walls and what kind of trouble it gets her into is a story idea.)
Enter up to two story ideas. You can put them in separate posts or together. You may edit them within your entry post as drastically as you like up until the last second of January 31st.
No one who steps up to do this part is required to do any other parts of the contest, but it's hoped that you will.
Your story ideas will be used in Part Two.

Story Ideas"
Part Two (Feb. 1 through Feb 8--midnight to midnight, WdC time.)
Click here for Part Two particulars. ▼
Take any one of the Part One ideas ("
Story Ideas"
) and write a story. Bend or stick to the story idea however you like, but the original idea should be evident within it. (You're free to get creative, even changing the genre and/or characters [if any characters are mentioned.])
If you entered Part One, please don't use your own story idea(s) for Part Two.
There is no restriction on word count, but keep in mind you only have a week and a day to finish.
No restrictions on content rating, but make sure your entry post sticks to this forum's rating. (13+)
Put which story idea you used at the top of your item (or book entry, if that's how you choose to post your story). If you choose to combine story ideas, make sure to include all the ones you used at the top of your item's (entry's) body.
Use whatever link works best for you to enter your story below.
One entry per contestant.
Your story will only be judged against others if you choose to enter it in Part Four.

Stories"
Part Three (Feb. 9 through Feb 22--midnight to midnight, WdC time.)
Click here for Part Three particulars. ▼No matter who you are or if you've done Parts One or Two, post reviews of the Part Two entries ("
Stories"
).
Make sure to click the checkbox to make them public.
Be as helpful as you can, and please pay attention to how the stories are built around the ideas in Part One. The story ideas used will be posted at the top of each item.
Keep in mind that it is helpful when reviewers tell writers what they did well in addition to what might need adjusting.
It is absolutely possible to be both honest and respectful, even when faced with a story you feel needs a lot of work.
You may review multiple stories from the Part Two list. Post your reviews using the {review:######} link. You may post your reviews in one post or multiple posts, but once you've made a post, leave it alone. If you come back to edit it and add new review links, I won't see them; make a new post.
"
Reviews"
Part Four (Feb. 15 through Feb. 28--midnight to midnight, WdC time.)
Click here for Part Four particulars. ▼Only those who entered Part Two are eligible for Part Four. Take what reviews you've received (from this contest and outside it) as well as your own judgement to revise and polish your story. This is the part that earns you the best prizes.
Good revision means choosing what advice to use and also what to discard (at least for the purposes of the story at hand.) It is your story and this contest is in no way asking you to rewrite in reviewers' images. In fact, doing so could hurt your chances if you follow bad advice.
No word count limit, but keep in mind you have only two weeks and polish will count.
There are still no content rating restrictions, but keep this forum's content rating in mind when choosing your title, description, and what kind of link to use.
You no longer have to keep the story idea(s) you used posted at the top of your item, but you can if you want. Up to you.
Post with whatever kind of link you need to use. (Make a new post, as if your post in Round Two never existed.) You're welcome to make your post for Part Four and keep working on your entry until the deadline.
Editing after midnight that night will count so harshly against your entry that it is in no way worth it. Yes, polish counts, but a few typos are far less a negative than editing after the deadline.
