Discuss all things relating to writing and genre. |
The more you leave out, the more you highlight what you leave in. - Henry Green What is the Writing Forum? The Writing Forum is our dedicated discussion forum for all things relating to the craft of writing, both in general and in the fantasy and science fiction genres. If you want to talk about how politics would be affected by magic and dragons, or how a binary star system would impact agriculture this is the place to come. If you want to discuss plotting methods, characterisation techniques, or magic systems (or anything in between!) then you're in the right place! Many people hear voices when no one is there. Some of them are called mad and are shut up in rooms where they stare at the walls all day. Others are called writers and they do pretty much the same thing - Margaret Chittenden What can we talk about The Writing Forum is only for discussing genre and the craft of writing. This is not the place to talk about grammar or other writing mechanics (we have a dedicated forum for that. This forum is also not for off-topic chat (The Hub is a great place if you just want to chat). This forum is a fantastic resource for those who really want to discuss writing and genre. There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed. - Ernest Hemmingway What are the rules? 1. Keep your posts E to 13+. If the nature of your post is higher than 13+ please state the rating in the post title. 2. Only discuss topics relating to the genre and/or the craft of writing - Off-topic posts will be deleted 3. This is not the place to ask for reviews. We have a review request forum for that very purpose! However, you are welcome to include short segments of your writing for discussion in relation to a suitable topic (for example if you want to know if your magic fight sequence is 'realistic') I'm writing a book. I've got the page numbers done. - Steven Wright |
