[Introduction]
My name is Halo. I'm not kidding. I have a sister named Angel, and she fits it perfectly. First things first, the world is cruel. Don't forget that. People never get why wars exist, but I just struggle to let them happen like that. My sister doesn't see anything wrong, but I do. My mum calls me the 'Troubled angel in the family'. You most likely haven't thought about it, but I certainly have. I've seen the worst part of cruelty. When you're me, you're not spared any ounce of respect. I have to earn every single drop myself. I wish I could change that, but I know I can't. Not here anyways. Sometimes I wish I were somebody else. Because then people would listen. But when you're me, nobody cares what you have to say. My mum says that you can't change the way people think, but I still want to try at least. Its kind of silly, thinking back to when you're a kid, and you think everything will be perfect when you get older, and nothing will go wrong. Then you get a taste of the real world. Like I did. But I decided to do something different. *3rd POV* Halo walked down the hall to math, he was almost to his class when he heard people making fun of him. Halo just sighed and continued on to class. He set his stuff down and began to write in his journal. Sup my only OTHER friend. Just a normal day in school. Y'know, being pushed around, excluded, never feeling good enough in class to raise my hand. Just a normal day. Not perfect. Normal. I envy those who can go, 'Dear diary, My day was PERFECT...'. But I can never do that. Not at my school anyway. Maybe I can get my mum to transfer my to one of those online schools. Should be bully-free right? Is that a thing? Maybe its just a fairytale designed to put useless hope into poor children. Or as I call them, Child-ren. Haha, I'm so funny. Back on topic. I got my test back today, got a 97%. Everybody laughed at my score, even the kid who got and 88%. Which was weird? I just can't wait until break. Only 1 1/2 hours to go! Then its a week to recover. Well, got to go, good-bye friend. Halo closed the journal, and started taking notes. Unlike others, Halo had to work a hundred times harder than others just to pass. He just couldn't get some things. Give him a problem with finding the area of a circle, he can do it. But give him a negative and positive exponent problem, you can expect some mistakes for sure. Halo didn't really believe in 'happy ever afters', he thought it was just something that was made up to hurt people like him. He only had one other friend besides his journal. His name was Kace. They were both the weird kids at the school. Poor Kace though, he had burst out in tears only a few minutes ago. Halo would have to text him later. Right now, he had to focus on stupid perfect and imperfect roots. Halo envied Kace though, roots were easy for him. Kace had gotten an 100% on both the quick check AND the quiz (not to mention the practice quiz). Meanwhile, Halo was over here studying two hours a day on stuff that would only confuse him on tests! Halo wondered on why Kace didn't have more friends. Sure he had Natalie and the others, but Halo knew Kace could be popular if he tried to fit in. But knowing Kace, fitting in was considered a curse. Halo wished he could change the way people thought like Kace. Kace had recently started to make a stand ever since his cat had died. For the three years Halo had known him, Kace was a kind, reserved misjudged kid, but Kace hated anything that meant asking adults for ANYTHING. But now, Kace was standing proud and standing up for himself and others. Halo switched his thoughts from Kace to the bullies of the school. There were multiple, but the worst were Tori, Miles, Tyler, Cooper, and Micah. The evil five Halo had dubbed them. Kace tried to see the best in everyone (Except Miles, for some reason, Kace really REALLY hated Miles), but Halo knew it was a long shot. Kace was perfect, Kace had a perfect life, perfect friends, perfect singing voice, and perfect view of people. "Hey! Halo-freak!" A voice called out. Halo groaned internally, it was the demon called Miles. Halo wished he could disappear right then. "What do you want bothersome parasite" Halo grumbled. "Don't be mean! Do you know who Candace is?" Miles asked annoyingly, only asking it so he could annoy Halo. "No, and I don't care, so you can go take your annoying little self and reflect on the book you read last, which was probably when you were in first grade" Halo said bitterly, already fed up with Miles. Halo then sped walked to his next class **(For my privacy) Studies. He walked in and sat beside Aubrey. Aubrey was sort-of nice. She knew her Taylor Swift songs too. But Halo just grumpily stared ahead, thinking about what the future would hold if people didn't learn from past mistakes. |
Halo's thoughts are interrupted as someone stops in front of him. He looks up and a girl he had never seen before stands in front of him looking at his diary. Slamming it shut he snaps at her. "What do you want?" He asks. She offers her hand. "I'm Candace. I'm new here." Halo looks at her hand but doesn't take it. "Well, Candace your new so you wouldn't know but no one talks to me or likes me so you should go on before no one likes you either." "What if I want to be your friend anyway?" She asks still holding out her hand. Someone bumps her from behind and Candace spins around and comes face to face with Miles and his gang. He smirks at her. "Hey, Candace." "Hi," she says in a small voice. "It's nice to see you again. Looks like your already getting into trouble. I told you to stay away from him already." Candace shakes her head but Miles ignores her. "The boy your talking to brings a lot more trouble than a pretty girl like you is worth." Candace looks at Halo but Halo remains silent knowing Miles' threats when he saw them no matter how layered they were. "Cooper, Micah why don't you show Candace to our table. We will talk about how you can make it up to me after I talk to Halo." Candace begins to protest but goes instantly silent when Miles spins on her angrily. They watch her walk away and Miles turns back with a scowl. "Don't you ever talk to her again. She's my girl." "She doesn't look like yours, parasite. She looks like she hates your guts." "Lemme break it down to your level, Freak. Candace is mine no one else can claim her. I'm in charge and I get first pick. She is my prisoner if that helps grind it into your thick skull. We live in a warzone, Halo. Our school is our battleground the neighborhood is a battleground. I'm the leader, my gang enforces the rules and you are at the bottom your the boy who cleans up the scum which is tracked in from the battleground your nothing." "Get lost." Halo mumbles slouching in his seat. "Careful freak or you're going to learn first hand what war is like." Miles strides away towards his table leaving Halo wondering what was so important about Candace that she draw so much attention his way. Attention wasn't good for him because attention meant bad things. Was he willing to fight a battle firsthand to possibly save the maid in distress? Was it worth it if she was the angel come to save him from something he didn't know he was fighting? |
Halo sighed, battles are not always meant to be fought, maybe perhaps, if he tried hard enough, he can disappear. Halo knew how to fight, just not with words like Kace. Maybe he should ask for some advice. Halo perked up, that was it. If he was going to fight this war, he needed allies! He heard from some people while he was on the bus there was also a new boy who just so happened to be Candace's twin brother! ~ Halo was madly, deeply, inlove. He did not think that her brother was this cute. Or willing to help fight this war with him. Even his name is adorable. Halo called Kace, "One, I just met the cutest boy named Ethan, Two, I need help fighting a school war." ' Stay there.' |
"Hey, you must be Halo my sister was telling me all about you." Ethan says offering a hand. "Yeah," Halo squeaks. Ethan gives him and odd look before looking around real quick and sitting down. "Look Halo, man to man. My sister is in trouble she's run into a group of bullies and I need help getting her out. They're terrible to her as I'm sure you understand being the odd kid out and all. Which means you know how they work and I need allies but I'm new so they are harder to find." Halo nods his understanding and pays close attention. "That said she's the sweetest girl and I think she likes you." Ethan goes to leave and stops short. If you have anything reslly useful on what we just talked about, call me." Ethan hands Halo a paper and winks at someone behind Halo. Confused Halo turns to find one of his female classmates blushing. "Are all these girl's up for grabs?" Ethan asks as he bids Halo goodbye. |
Halo spiraled into an internal crisis, of course Ethan was straight. "Halo, hello?" Kace said, waving his hand infront of his face. "I think Ethan is straight." "Hold on, ETHANNNNNNN" Kace yelled, finding the voice through kacecholocation(?) "You Bi?" Kace asked Ethan, ignoring Halo's protests "Yes?" Ethan replied in question. "Cool, I'm Kace, my friend Halo is gay." Kace smirked. "Kace- I will personally kill you" Halo groaned. |
Rein a girl who had been going to school with Halo as long as he can remember stops across the table from him. "Do you need something?" Halo asks looking up from his journal. "No, not really. I just wanted to check on you, you look kinda sad." "I'm fine." "Ok, how's home life?" "I don't wanna talk about it. Look I'm sorry but I don't like you, Rein." Rein laughs. "Halo, I don't like you either. I just care about you and want you to know there are people out there who do care...." "Cool thanks, Rein. You should go." Halo says staring off somewhere. "Right, sorry Halo. I really wish you cared for yourself." "What's that supposed to mean... You know what never mind, I don't wanna know." She walks away looking sad but not for herself, Halo realizes. Halo shakes his head, the girl was very odd to be sure. She seemed to care about everyone and she always "checked" on him which was odd. She seemed to want to tell him something but she had never deemed it the right time it appeared. He would have to learn more about her and figure out what she wasn't saying, he had gone to school with her for years. She had always been kind but very out of place and oddly different. She was oddly very likable. She was on good terms with most all students but she didn't fit in any group and yet she was rarely alone as the students were drawn to her like a magnet. The only way he could think to describe her was as a small shining light. Halo shakes his head and stops writing. He had more important matters to attend, the mysterious odd girl could be figured out later. Rein leaves the class last and finds herself surrounded by Miles and his gang of bullies. "Hey scamp." "Hi Miles, how are you today?" She asks looking him in the eyes. "I'm great just caught an unfortunate pet." "Oh," she says her little bit of confidence deflating under the older boy's scrutiny. "Who you been talking to?" "Look, Miles, I don't want any trouble." "Sure you were scamp you went and talked to that freak." "He needs a friend, Miles." "Too bad it ain't gonna be you." Miles's hand shoots out and catches her wrist. She squeaks and tries to jerk her arm away. "Miles, let me go." Rein demands sternly. Halo watches in silence as the small brunette stands up to the bully. She was doing it for him? Why? Not one to intervene with the evil five Halo stays seated to see the outcome. He was surprised Kace hadn't intervened. "Rein, you don't talk to the freaks, you hear?" "Miles you don't tell me what to do." He squeezes her wrist. "Ow ow, Miles stop!" He shoves her away and she lands on her backside. "I find you talking to any freak and especially Halo. Things will get worse for you." Miles leaves Rein on the floor the evil five leave. Rein climbs to her feet, brushes off her pants, and massages her wrist. She shoots Halo a tight. "See you tomorrow." Halo remains silent surprised by the girl's drive. She was bound to have trouble. Halo can't get her words off his mind the rest of the weekend. Why would she say he didn't care about himself? He'd have to ask her when Monday came around but for now, Saturday and Sunday were his. |
